Recent Press, Podcasts, and Other Sightings
Wednesday, February 17th, 2010I have been featured in a couple of newspaper articles recently, a couple of podcasts, and I presented at a recent event called Minnedemo. I thought I would share all of the links in one place here. The mentions all center around two startups I founded and one product I developed.
MobileRealtyApps.com is a new service that provides branded home search apps for real estate agencies as a lead generation tool.

“Aaron Kardell believes that in the future, an ever-increasing percentage of home searches will be conducted on the mobile Web using smart phones and other mobile devices, rather than via a standard computer. Consequently, he says, those real estate companies who can get in front of potential buyers in the mobile arena are likely to score big.”
““There is not a lot of competition at this point and quite a bit of opportunity, so it’s an exciting thing to be exploring,” he said.”
Presenting MobileRealtyApps.com at Minnedemo. I had seven minutes to present (there was a running timer), and that time flew by quicker than I had planned for. Nevertheless, you can see me presenting in the the video below:
In 2007, I co-founded a company called Connected Information Systems. We have had a number of milestones since then, a select few of which are noted here:
- Self funded and incorporated in 2007
- Beta product released to first customer in October 2008
- Customers – in five districts in California and Iowa as of early 2010
The technology we have built is solid and we are now looking to add to our team with sales and executive management roles, as well as seeking angel investment. I spoke at length on tech.mn’s Local Startup Spotlight #11 podcast about where we are at and where we are headed next.
Last August I released an iPhone app called iGarageSale. It was featured by Apple in the New & Noteworthy section of iTunes, and was nominated in two categories for the Best App Ever awards.

Have you seen Aaron Kardell’s new baby? Thousands of iPhone users have.
No, not his 13-month-old son, Elijah, but the popular app that the little fella inspired.
Kardell said he had never been interested in garage sales until Elijah came along, but then the desire to get baby items cheaply kicked in.
“There are so many garage sale listings on Craigslist, though, and I didn’t want to take the time to scan through all of them,” he said. “But if I could do a quick search for maybe ‘baby toys’ and see within a 5-mile radius what sales were available, I thought that would be really useful to me.”"
First episode of “Behind the Apps”
I was one of two guests for the first episode of Behind the Apps, shown in the video below.
